the music genre of the song that we have chosen is in the indie rock genre, it is originally from both the US and UK in the late 1980's but was mainly overshadowed by Brit-pop at the time. this meant that from the late 1900's and and the early 2000's it grew in popularity. a couple a popular bands from the time were, the killers, arctic monkeys, the white stripes and the Kings of Leon. The indie rock genre is popular mainly seen in the gratification model by Blumer and Katz. This means that the audience specifically seek a type of genre to satisfy specific needs. One potential reason for people using consuming the indie rock music is the possibility that with the end of a lot of Brit pop bands, indie rock was very close to it so therefore could have been the reason and motivation to watch and listen to the music genre. The audience could also potentially link to the audience which also links back tot he gratification theory.
