Costume, Hair and Make-Up

The singer is going to be wearing skinny jeans because it is not only relevant in modern society but it also gives the music video a youthful feel. This is a good idea because when long shots are used it makes the singer visually relatable to the audience. We want this relatable, contemporary feel because of the fact that the music itself is very upbeat and has a youthful tone which we try to emulate through what the performers wear.

We are choosing to use the shirt and flannel to fit with the conventions of the indie rock artist. To show this, there will be a simple shirt with a patterned flannel over the top. We use this because traditionally it has connotations of the bands being dedicated to music, for example, famous rock artists using this. A patterned sort of flannel will be good to highlight the creative themes that we want our music video to convey.

Another shirt possibility that we would use would be a button up shirt, to keep the costume fresh and give it a new look. It would also look good if we alternated the colours to keep up with the style of us changing colours in the editing process.

I would like to use the boots that are shown at the bottom of this picture. I think they would fit the character of an indie singer/artist well because it fits the conventions of the genre. It would look good because of the fact that there would be skinny jeans in combination with larger boots, making for an abstract look.

In an effort to appeal to the youths that are watching this video and are predominately our main audience. If we use a hairstyle such as this then it would be useful for our audience to feel like they can relate to our video and hence, the music.

There will not be any make up used because it is not in the traditional conventions of an indie rock music video. A music video is mainly to promote and advertise the singers and the music and it is not necessary to use make up because ultimately the music video is not about the looks of the characters.
