Magazine ad for CD
This advertisement for the album 'day and age' by the killers is very striking. It starts off with a dark colour but as you go up from it, the colours get lighter in a subtle way. I think this uses some form of binary opposites to show the differences of theses colours. In addition to this, the advertisement matches the codes and conventions of the band, with the band being indie rock, the lack of artist shows there it is about the music. In addition, the spaces out picture that that ad shows is eye catching and defines the style of music that is going to be on the album. The killers logo and the font of the album cover are different, the killers weren't as well known then so they needed a way to distinguish themselves. Graphologically, the use of the record label gives them a sense of professionalism, makeing them seem like they are serious.
